The provider is the person you speak with about the problem, the visit and the price.

What Happens on the Call

Expect a few plain questions. What have you seen? Where in the house? How long has it been going on? Have you tried anything yet?

Photos can help. So can notes about droppings, sounds at night, mud tubes or small piles of wings. The more detail you share, the better the provider can plan.

Many providers can respond quickly, but availability varies. Request a callback to check what is open near you.

What to Ask a Provider

Ask before you hire. Here are questions worth asking:

• Are you licensed in this state, and can I see proof?
• Do you carry insurance?
• What exactly will you do, and what products or methods will you use?
• Is the quote in writing, and what does it include?
• Is there a follow-up visit, and what happens if the problem returns?
• How will you keep pets, kids and the yard safe?

A good answer is clear and specific. It does not rush you. Be careful if someone refuses to put the price in writing, pushes you to sign on the spot, or will not explain what they plan to do.

Talking to a provider does not commit you to anything. You can ask for more than one quote. You can take a day to think. You can say no.
